Opening doors to construction careers through our partnership with Greenlight Safety & Training

The construction industry is crying out for skilled people, while many young people are looking for the opportunity to gain experience, build confidence and discover a career they’ll love. Too often, those two needs don’t meet.

At Seetec, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to unlock their potential, and that starts by creating opportunities that remove barriers and open doors.

That’s why we’re proud to be working in partnership with Greenlight Safety & Training in Plymouth, helping young people take their first steps into the construction industry through a bespoke five-day programme designed to build skills, confidence and real employment opportunities.

Unlike many traditional routes, learners complete their CSCS qualification on the very first day, without the need to travel to a separate testing centre. This means they can quickly gain an essential industry qualification before spending the rest of the week getting hands-on experience across a range of construction trades.

From bricklaying and carpentry to other specialist trades, participants are encouraged to try different disciplines, discover where their strengths lie and gain a genuine insight into what a career in construction could look like.

But the programme doesn’t stop there.

While learners are developing practical skills, Greenlight’s dedicated employer engagement team is working behind the scenes to connect each participant with the right apprenticeship opportunities. By matching people with employers based on their interests, strengths and ambitions, the programme creates a clear pathway from training into sustainable employment.

It’s a brilliant example of how strong employer partnerships can create meaningful opportunities for local people while helping to address skills shortages across the industry.

We recently visited Greenlight to meet the latest group of learners, hear about their experiences and see the programme in action. The enthusiasm, confidence and ambition on display was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when young people are given the chance to succeed.

Watch the video below to hear directly from the learners and discover how this partnership is helping build brighter futures, one opportunity at a time.
