Colleagues, participants and partners came together for a special awards ceremony celebrating the people making a difference across communities in the North West.
Hosted with Seetec’s Birkenhead team, the event provided an opportunity to recognise the dedication of colleagues and partners, while celebrating the achievements of people who have been supported to build their skills and confidence and move towards – and into – employment.
The celebration reflected the impact of Seetec’s work across the Wirral, Greater Manchester and Cheshire, bringing together colleagues, participants and employers who all play a part in creating new opportunities for local people.
All of the awards were nominated by Seetec colleagues and Employee Owners, recognising those who have made an exceptional contribution over the past year.
Amy was named Colleague of the Year, while the Birkenhead team received the Team of the Year award in recognition of their collective commitment to supporting local people.
Thrive Education was also celebrated as Employer of the Year, recognising the strength of its partnership with Seetec and its commitment to creating opportunities for the people we support.
At the heart of the ceremony were five awards recognising the achievements of Seetec participants, with two people named Achiever of the Year and three receiving Young Achiever of the Year awards.
Only two of the five participant winners were able to attend the ceremony – but for a reason worth celebrating. The others were unable to join because they are now in work, demonstrating exactly what their awards represented: the progress they have made and the new opportunities they have created for themselves.
The event was also attended by Councillor Stephen Bennett, Chair of Children, Young People and Education, who heard more about Seetec’s work supporting people across the region, including the opportunities being created for young people.
Reflecting on the day, Cllr Bennett said:
“Thank you for what you do for the community in Wirral and people across the North West. I’ve learnt so much about Seetec and the work that you do today, it’s unbelievable. My door is always open to Seetec.”
His visit also provided an opportunity to discuss how Seetec and local partners can continue working together to support young people to overcome barriers, develop their skills and access new opportunities.
The celebration highlighted that success is rarely achieved alone. Behind every individual moving forward is a network of colleagues, employers and community partners working together to provide the right support and opportunities.
Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees, and thank you to everyone helping people across the North West build brighter futures.
