Seetec to support people with a history of offending in South-West England to build positive futures
Seetec, an employee-owned partner to businesses and governments, is thrilled to have been appointed by His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) to deliver resettlement and rehabilitation services for people leaving prison or those serving a sentence in the community in South-West England.
We are excited to be launching this service today, Thursday 1st August 2024, which will help people lead law-abiding lives by tackling their individual needs.
Seetec will be supporting in areas such as employment, education and interacting positively with their community.
People will be able to access services in custody, community and in dedicated regional CFO (Creating Future Opportunities) Activity Hubs.
The agreement expands provision currently available under HMPPS’s CFO programme, which has a successful record of reducing reoffending by eight percentage points in comparison with control groups.
To strengthen the service, Seetec has opened a dedicated CFO Activity Hub to serve Plymouth. This is in addition to the centre in Bristol which the organisation already manages.
Seetec will now also take on responsibility for managing the service in prison and across communities in the south-west, which have been drawn together under one provider for the first time.
Impact
The new service will last for up to five years and we are delighted to be welcoming new colleagues to Seetec, to deliver this service to our participants.
We’re confident their expertise and dedication will have a profound impact on the lives of those we’ll be supporting.
Seetec’s Director for Rehabilitation, Resettlement & Careers Services, Rupert Nesbitt-Day, says:
“Finding a home, work and forging positive connections in communities is key to preventing reoffending and this announcement strengthens our support for people leaving custody and returning to communities in south-west England.”
People and communities
“Our new Hub in Plymouth, our expertise in helping people to overcome barriers, and our range of careers and employment services will help people to start new lives.
“We are committed to providing services like these to people with a history of reoffending, or who have complex needs or significant barriers.
“Our experienced team looks forward to helping the people we will support to build positive futures and in so doing, reduce harm in the communities we serve.”
