Warrington resident, Amin turned to Seetec for support to gain employment and build confidence to face the process of searching for work.

Having suffered from some psychological issues, and with challenges such as A.D.H.D and Autism, Amin was referred to the Work and Health Programme to help break down the barriers he faced.

In the North West, the Work and Health programme is delivered by Seetec in partnership with Ingeus.

He was put in touch with the health and wellbeing coach, Amy, to work through some of the obstacles preventing him from searching for work.

We met up with Amin when he was visiting our Warrington office for an open day marking National Employability Day.

He was only to pleased to share his story with us, so we asked him to record a short video.

Scattered thinking

Amin tells us; “Seetec took my kind of scattered thinking, my scattered head, and put all of the pieces in place for me to be able to confidently approach the work search process.”

Amy helped met with Amin on a regular basis to discuss more personal matters, and see how she could help him address them.

Through speaking with Amy, Amin was able to get the support he needed by reaching out to other specialists, enabling him to begin tackling his personal issues.

Gaining confidence

Amin’s employment adviser, Zarah, tells us; “To gain confidence and ease himself into the workplace, Amin began volunteering at an animal sanctuary.

“He followed that by taking some shifts at a local pub, where he could interact with others while playing pool.

“These experience helped him develop social and professional skills in a supportive environment.

“Gradually, he found he was boosting his self-esteem and readiness for the workforce.”

Amin was able to improve his confidence, leading to him getting a temporary retail position as a Christmas staff member. Due to his hard work and perseverance this turned into a permanent position.

The Work and Health Programme is now closed to new joiners, but Seetec has many other programmes to support you. If you have been inspired by Amin’s story, please check out our programme pages for more info.
