Building the Future of Freight with Apprenticeships at GEODIS

GEODIS has worked with Seetec for many years, growing a successful apprenticeship programme across its UK operations. With multiple apprentices currently in training, GEODIS has seen their apprentices rise through the ranks – going from a junior starter to management. As their training provider, Seetec has become a key part of how they attract, train, and retain talent.

GEODIS is a global Freight Forwarder and Logistics company with branches across the UK, including Heathrow, Birmingham, and Manchester. For over a decade, they have been developing young talent through apprenticeships – giving people a strong start in logistics while building a pipeline of skilled, loyal employees.

Debbie Morley, who has worked in HR for 16 years, has seen this journey unfold:

“We’ve had a really good experience with apprentices. We’ve had quite a few of them stay and continue, and one is now manager of a sales team that started off with us as an apprentice.”

Like many logistics employers, GEODIS needed a way to attract young people into a fast-moving, high-pressure sector. Competing with other career paths – especially after the pandemic – made it difficult to find new recruits who could learn, adapt, and grow with the business. They also wanted a trusted training partner who could handle recruitment and onboarding, keep things simple, and make the process smooth for managers.

GEODIS Challenge

Seetec is the trusted partner for both new apprenticeships and staff upskilling at GEODIS. The Seetec team works closely with Debbie and the GEODIS team to advertise, shortlist, and support each apprentice – managing everything from applications to training setup.

“We’ve had a really great experience with our apprentices and with Seetec.”

The apprenticeships have helped GEODIS train people from the ground up – introducing young recruits to every part of the business and its culture from day one.

“It’s good for the apprentice to come into a big business and get an idea of what goes on within the environment. They can move around into different areas – operations, warehouse, imports, exports, customs, pricing and sales. It’s good for them and good for us because we can train them to whatever we need.”

GEODIS now also uses apprenticeships to upskill existing employees, not just new hires:

We’ve been using Seetec for training up our employees, not just for young people that have left school or college.
