Creating spaces people want to visit: our customer experience project begins in Bristol

We know that finding work isn’t just a practical journey — it’s an emotional one.

Many of the people we support come to us at a time in their lives when they feel anxious, uncertain or low in confidence.

That’s why we’ve launched a new customer experience project across our UK employment offices: to make sure every person who walks through our doors feels welcomed, comfortable and genuinely supported from the very first moment.

Our ambition is simple — we want participants to want to come to a Seetec office.

We want our spaces to reduce stress, encourage conversation and create an atmosphere where people feel safe to talk openly about their goals, challenges and ambitions. The environment should never add to the pressure of job searching; instead, it should help people feel calm, respected and hopeful about what comes next.

Starting in the heart of Bristol

The first office to launch the project is our Bristol centre, located in the heart of the city and one of our busiest locations. Every day the office is a hive of activity, supporting people at different stages of their employment journey.

But while the support from our teams was strong, the space itself didn’t reflect the inspiring experience we want participants to leave with. Dark walls and a traditional office layout created a formal atmosphere — functional, but not welcoming.

So we stepped back and asked a simple question:

What do our participants actually need when they come to see us?

The answer wasn’t desks and partitions. It was connection, empathy and someone who truly listens.

Designing for conversation and confidence

We reshaped the office to encourage relaxed, human conversations rather than formal appointments.

  • Square brown desks were replaced with bright round tables
Creating a more natural, friendly environment where advisers and participants can sit together as equals.
  • Fresh paint and updated branding brightened the walls
Including inspiring quotes taken directly from our participants’ own words — reminding everyone who enters the building what progress looks like.
  • A redesigned welcome area with comfortable sofa-style seating
Participants can now relax with a complimentary tea or coffee while waiting, helping to reduce any anxiety before appointments.
  • Training rooms opened up
Large, clunky furniture was removed to move away from a classroom feel and encourage open conversation and collaboration.

Each change was small on its own — but together they transformed how the space feels.

The impact so far

The difference has been immediate. Colleagues, customers and partners have all reported feeling more relaxed, more engaged and more positive during their time in the centre.

Conversations flow more naturally, appointments feel less formal, and the environment supports the supportive relationships our teams build every day.

“The new layout is great. I’m always excited to come in and there’s instantly a feeling of I’m being cared for and I’m being looked after.”

“The whole office is definitely a lot more comfortable now- it feels much more like somewhere I want to be rather than somewhere I have to be.”

Celebrating the transformation

To mark the completion of the refurbishment, our CEO John Baumback visited the Bristol office to officially re-open the centre alongside our colleagues and participants.

The visit was a chance to celebrate the team’s work in bringing the project to life and to hear first-hand how the new environment is already changing the experience people have when they walk through our doors. John spent time speaking with participants and advisers, reinforcing our shared commitment to creating spaces that feel welcoming, supportive and centred around the individual.

It was a proud moment for the Bristol team and a meaningful milestone in our wider journey to put people at the heart of every Seetec office.

Putting people at the heart of everything we do

This project reflects something fundamental about Seetec: the experience we provide matters just as much as the practical support we offer. By investing time and resources into our environments, we are making sure every participant feels respected, comfortable and motivated to take their next step forward.

Bristol is just the beginning. The learning from this project will help shape improvements across our network of offices, ensuring that wherever someone meets us in the UK, they encounter the same welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
