There was so much to celebrate this week as some of our Project | SEARCH interns did us proud at their graduation ceremony.
All of them have completed three internships at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, in roles including portering, hospitality, administration and working in the pharmacy.
Graduation took place at City College Plymouth and two of our interns were also thrilled to pick up extra awards for their efforts: Ben Lacey (pictured below) received the award in Progression whilst Elisha Howing-Nicholls (pictured at the top of this page) received the award in Resilience.
My time at Project Search was brilliant. When I started I was nervous, but once I got started I wasn’t nervous at all – they are really supportive people.

The graduation was a really good time to celebrate our achievements.
Employment and independence

Project | SEARCH is a year-long internship programme, aimed at supporting young people with a learning disability and/or autism to move towards and into work.
In Plymouth, this is a partnership between Seetec’s Community Interest Group, Pluss, Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust and City College Plymouth.
The programme helps young people in the city achieve employment and independence.
It was an incredible honour to be a co-host at the graduation and a pleasant surprise to receive an award for progress made.
