Graduation Day - Project Search Plymouth

All of them have completed three internships at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, in roles including portering, hospitality, administration and working in the pharmacy.

Graduation took place at City College Plymouth and two of our interns were also thrilled to pick up extra awards for their efforts: Ben Lacey (pictured below) received the award in Progression whilst Elisha Howing-Nicholls (pictured at the top of this page) received the award in Resilience.

Employment and independence

Graduation Day - Project Search Plymouth

Project | SEARCH is a year-long internship programme, aimed at supporting young people with a learning disability and/or autism to move towards and into work.

In Plymouth, this is a partnership between Seetec’s Community Interest Group, PlussPlymouth Hospital NHS Trust and City College Plymouth.

The programme helps young people in the city achieve employment and independence.

Roll of honour

The interns who graduated were:

  • Jack Knowles; Jack now has a full-time paid job in Derriford Hospital as a logistics porter.
  • Ryan Brown; Ryan also now has a full-time paid job in Derriford Hospital as an Imaging Booking Clerk.
  • Brandon Bishop; Brandon has been taking on shifts through NHSP (The NHS staff bank) as a recycling operative for DWMS (Derriford Waste Management Service) which is based at the hospital.
  • Charlotte Wheeler; who is now working in the café at The Range.
  • Elisha Howing-Nicholls; is working at the Waterside Bistro.
  • Ben Lacey: Ben will be moving on to a Drama course at City College Plymouth.
