Over a three-week period, Seetec Employment and Skills worked in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver eight Youth Guarantee Forums across Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Six events were held in person, with two taking place online.
The forums formed part of the Youth Guarantee, bringing together organisations that support young people aged 16 to 24 to strengthen local partnerships, improve awareness of services and encourage greater collaboration across the region.
More than 100 delegates from over 70 organisations attended the events, representing local authorities, colleges, training providers, employers, charities, youth services, housing providers, health organisations and community groups. The strong attendance reflected a shared commitment to helping young people access education, training and employment opportunities.
Each forum provided an opportunity for attendees to network, share experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges affecting young people in their local areas. Conversations covered a broad range of topics, including careers education, employability, employer engagement, health and wellbeing, and the importance of joined-up support across organisations.
The events also gave attendees the chance to showcase the work already taking place within their organisations, identify opportunities to work more closely with partners and make new connections across the local support landscape. By bringing together such a diverse range of organisations, the forums encouraged greater understanding of the services available to young people and helped strengthen relationships between local providers.
The feedback from attendees highlighted the value of creating dedicated spaces for organisations to come together, exchange ideas and build partnerships. The forums have laid strong foundations for continued collaboration, with many organisations expressing an interest in maintaining the connections made and exploring future opportunities to work together.
Seetec is proud to have worked alongside DWP to facilitate these conversations and looks forward to continuing to support partnership working that helps improve outcomes for young people across the region.
