National Employability Week gave us the opportunity to shine a spotlight on what matters most – helping people build brighter futures through employment, skills and confidence.
Throughout the week, Seetec teams across the country hosted a wide range of activities designed to support customers on their journey into work. From wellbeing sessions and employability workshops to job clubs, employer routeways and careers advice, every event was focused on giving people the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to take their next step.
A particular highlight came on #NationalEmployabilityDay, when we were delighted to welcome MPs from across the country into our Seetec offices. Their visits provided an opportunity to see first-hand the positive impact employability support has within local communities and to hear directly from the people whose lives are being transformed through meaningful employment.
Our teams welcomed Danny Beales, Luke Pollard, Jessica Toale, Jack Abbott, Mark Garnier OBE and Neil Duncan-Jordan, who spent time meeting colleagues, learning more about our services and listening to the experiences of customers. These conversations are invaluable in helping policymakers better understand the opportunities and challenges facing people looking to move into sustainable employment.
Building strong relationships with local MPs is an important part of ensuring the voices of our customers are heard. By working together, we can help create more opportunities, reduce barriers to employment and strengthen local communities.
Let’s Take a Look at #NationalEmployabilityWeek Across Seetec
In Poole, Neil Duncan-Jordan over saw a confidence builder session and spoke with customers about what some of their biggest barriers to employment are. He also supported customers who were attending a jobs club in the officer, applying for roles which align to their wants and passions.
In Plymouth, the team welcomed local MP Luke Pollard to the office to showcase the vital employability support being delivered across the city. The visit highlighted the impact of the Plymouth team’s work and the barriers many customers continue to face. Although there wasn’t an opportunity to meet customers directly, Luke took away their questions and experiences, leaving with a greater understanding of the challenges people face on their journey into employment.
In Bournemouth, the team welcomed local MP Jessica Toale for an engaging visit, where she spent time learning more about Seetec’s employability support and speaking with customers. Customers shared their experiences of looking for work, including the challenges posed by AI-driven recruitment processes. The discussions highlighted the importance of inclusive hiring, with Jessica expressing interest in working together on a future employer event to help break down barriers and promote more inclusive recruitment practices.
In Uxbridge, the team was pleased to welcome local MP Danny Beales, continuing the strong relationship already established with Seetec. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the support available to local people, discuss the barriers they face and explore how continued collaboration can help create more inclusive pathways into employment.
In Ipswich, the team welcomed local MP Jack Abbott for a positive visit, discussing the impact of employability support in the local community. The visit resulted in a commitment to host a local employer roundtable with Seetec, as well as support for writing to the new Secretary of State for the Department for Work and Pensions on the importance of ensuring there is no gap in support between Restart and the Future Employment Support programme.
In Kidderminster, the team welcomed local MP Mark Garnier OBE to learn more about the employability support being delivered across the area. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing local jobseekers, showcase the impact of Seetec’s services and strengthen relationships that will help create more opportunities for people looking to move into work.
#National EmployabilityWeek is a celebration of the power of good work to change lives. Every conversation, workshop and employer connection made throughout the week reflects Seetec’s ongoing commitment to supporting people into fulfilling, sustainable employment.
A huge thank you to our colleagues, employer partners, community organisations and everyone who took part in making the week such a success. Together, we’re creating opportunities, changing lives and building stronger communities.
