After a challenging period out of work, Georgia joined the Restart Scheme in early 2025 with a clear vision to turn her lifelong passion for jewellery into a sparkling new career.

Previously working in property maintenance, Georgia had a change of heart during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She realised her true calling lay in the intricate and creative world of gemstones and jewellery – something she has loved since childhood.

Determined to make the leap, Georgia was referred to Seetec, where she began working closely with her employment adviser, Kyle.

Exploring her dream

From the outset, Georgia spoke to Kyle about her dream of working in the jewellery industry.

Kyle recognised her enthusiasm and helped her explore opportunities that aligned with her goals. Together, they mapped out a plan that included attending open days, internal workshops and industry events.

One of the turning points came when Georgia attended a ‘hidden jobs market’ session with Seetec, which opened her eyes to new ways of job searching and networking.

Georgia took a proactive approach, regularly visiting Birmingham’s renowned Jewellery Quarter in person, cold calling potential employers and building her confidence in the face of rejection.

Her persistence and resilience were unwavering.

Through her own research, she discovered a niche website – Benchpeg – which specialises in jobs within the jewellery sector.

Georgia began applying online and also made the effort to visit businesses in person to introduce herself.

Her dedication paid off.

Working in an industry I love

Georgia secured an interview with a respected, family-run jewellery manufacturing company.

Her passion, preparation and commitment stood out, and she was offered the role of Administrative Production Coordinator.

In this exciting new role, Georgia will be streamlining production for the workshop, sourcing materials, and building valuable relationships with suppliers.

“I’m so excited to be working in an industry I’ve loved since I was young,” Georgia says.

“Having Kyle’s support through the process gave me the confidence to keep going, even when things didn’t go to plan. His guidance really helped me handle rejection and keep my focus on the bigger picture.”

Kyle adds: “Georgia’s determination and positivity have been inspiring. She didn’t wait for opportunities to come to her – she went out and created them.

“It’s been a pleasure to support her on this journey.”
