Research centred on issues of staff wellbeing and emotional labour are fundamental to our commitment to stimulate sector-wide debates on the best ways to deliver public services.
In 2020, we published a report on the “Women’s Lead Role”- a project focused on the challenges facing female probation staff within Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Service (KSS CRS). This research was then featured in Probation Quarterly, in an article titled “The Cost of Empathy.” Continuing the focus on wellbeing of probation staff, we also published research looking at staff supervision and the benefits of implementing dedicated time and space.
